Mrs. Mendell. This past Saturday (March 30th) there was an Helicopter Easter Egg drop at the Pine Hollow Middle school. I live on Shallcross Way (at the end) which is right next to the middle school. Two weeks ago I saw the signs all over the NW side of Raleigh about the egg drop. Then last week there was something on WRAL.com about the event. I called the Southbridge church (which was putting on the egg drop) and I also emailed them about my concerns about the amount of traffic. I called them last Monday and emailed them the week before about my concerns. I finally got an email from them late Friday afternoon. Saturday during the event it was total chaos from one end of my street to the other. Neighbors in my neighborhood all said that there were parking issues. People parking in front of neighbors driveways, in front of fire hydrants and also in front of mailboxes. There were people walking across my yard going to the event with my there in my driveway washing my vehicles. I dropped off my dogs at 9:30 am to get groomed. On the way back home I can hardly get my Ford F-150 pickup truck down my street because of cars parked on either side of the street. Heaven forbid if there had been an emergency like a house fire or someone needing EMS. A fire truck could not have made it up Shallcross Way or Langwood because of the traffic. Fire hydrants had cars parked right in front of them. My neighbor across the street from me had someone park his SUV in front of his driveway and his mailbox and when I told that person they should not park there, they just looked at me and walked off.

Southbridge Fellowship totally dropped the ball on this. They told me they had people to help direct traffic but I saw no one. This event was WAY too big for the amount of parking around the school (not counting parking on streets in Pemberton). I am furious with Southbridge Fellowship and I have emailed them about my anger. I also got into a major confrontation with a woman who blocked my driveway as I tried to get out.

This was a major fiasco and Southbridge if they should have this event next year should scale it way back or they should not be allowed to have it at all.

    Sincerely

    Fred Jenkins, CNMT

    Hi
I’m Jessie Bai. I’m a current student in Saint Mary’s School in downtown Raleigh. I’m doing a project for AP government to learn more about the election process. Would you be willing to answer a few questions about your campaign for the 2016 Ms. Mendell City Council election?

What issues are/were hot topics for that candidate or party? Where does/did the candidate stand on those issues?

Do/did his/her opinions coincide with the national party’s platform?

What types of campaign activities seem to be most effective in getting votes?

What types of campaign activities has this candidate used? Grassroots? Negative ads? TV/radio spots? Direct mail? Phone calls?

What might he/she do differently to get more votes?

Why is/did this person (the interviewee) working/work for this particular campaign? Does he/she support the candidate, the party or both?

What type of work does campaign staff or volunteers do?

Who makes up the office for this campaign? Is it more men/women? Volunteers or paid staff? Older or younger people?

    Thank you so much!

    Best regards,

    Jessie Bai

Hi Stef, I grew up in Raleigh on Glenwood across from the Club, went to Broughton (like you) and bought our house on the corner of White Oak and Sunset in 1993. I along with many of our neighbors learned today that Hayes Barton Baptist Church is planning on tearing down six historic homes on White Oak to add another 78 space paved parking lot with a new entrance and exit on White Oak Road. This would greatly damage the historic charm and aesthetics of our neighborhood, decrease our property values and add to the already out of control flooding which occurs here during thunderstorms and rain events. This much pavement added would completely overwhelm the sewer drains and the creek that flows through Fallon Park to Crabtree Creek. I would like to talk with you about how we can eliminate this devastating proposal or at least try to mitigate some of the flood, aesthetic, infrastructure and environmental issues. Sincerely, Vernon Hunter

I live in district e. I have received your material in the mail today. I am going to vote early. I have two questions. What is your commitment to affordable housing? What amount do you believe Raleigh should commit to affordable housing for individuals and families at or below 60% area median income and amount for individuals who’d need deeply subsidized housing living under 40% ami every year? Your answer will determine how I vote. Thank you.

can you see whether I made a small donation several days ago? I did not get an email confirmation and see a pending charge on a credit card from Democracy Engine but made some other donations and got email verification from those – and not sure if Dem Engine might be yours or not. Thanks. If did not go through I’ll try again.
